The reporter learned on the 11th that the international organization for Standardization (ISO) officially released the international standards "TCM diagnostic terminology Part I: tongue diagnosis" and "TCM diagnostic terminology Part II: pulse diagnosis". This is the first time that ISO / tc249 has published the terminology standard of traditional Chinese medicine diagnostics, which provides an important basis for standardizing and unifying the terminology of traditional Chinese medicine diagnostics in the world.

It is understood that the formulation of the international standard of TCM diagnostic terminology is the basis for the standardization of TCM terminology, which is directly related to the promotion and application of TCM diagnostic instruments in the world and international trade. These two standards were developed under the leadership of Professor Wang Yiqin, School of basic medicine, Shanghai University of traditional Chinese medicine and Shanghai Key Laboratory of health identification and evaluation.

Professor Wang Yiqin led the team of researchers to submit the standard proposal to ISO / tc249 domestic technical counterparts in January 2016. The project was officially approved in March 2018. Seven nominated experts from China, the United States, South Korea, Canada, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ghana jointly developed the standard with the project team. Over the past three years, experts from many countries have worked together to form a consensus after repeated revision and demonstration.

The team led by Professor Wang Yiqin of Shanghai Key Laboratory of health identification and evaluation is one of the earliest teams at home and abroad to carry out the research and development of four diagnosis detection system of traditional Chinese medicine and the research on syndrome differentiation model of information fusion of four diagnosis of traditional Chinese medicine. It has done a lot of pioneering work in the objectification, standardization and standardization of traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis.

Professor Wang Yiqin told reporters that the standard text added typical tongue images as auxiliary definitions of terms, which provided new ideas and paths for the formulation of TCM terms; At the same time, the standard text includes English, Pinyin, complex and simple Chinese characters, Japanese and Korean, which greatly expands the applicability of the standard.

The expert said that the formulation of the two standards will play an outstanding leading role in accelerating the modernization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine, is of great significance to the dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine knowledge, medical exchanges at home and abroad, and the promotion and application of scientific and technological achievements of traditional Chinese medicine, and has far-reaching strategic significance to enhance the international influence, competitiveness and international voice of traditional Chinese medicine, It will play an important role in promoting the international trade of diagnostic instruments of traditional Chinese medicine.

"TCM diagnostic terminology Part I: tongue diagnosis" (iso23961-1) and "TCM diagnostic terminology Part II: pulse diagnosis" (iso23961-2) are two new ISO international standards for TCM diagnosis led and released by Wang Yiqin team after the international standard "TCM tongue image color acquisition and representation method" (ISO / tr20498-5).

It is reported that as of November 2021, Shanghai University of traditional Chinese medicine has led the release of 12 ISO international standards for traditional Chinese medicine, and there are 3 iso international standards under research.
